A Legacy of Justice and Professional Excellence
Welcome to the Kuala Lumpur Bar Committee (KL Bar), an esteemed institution with a distinguished heritage in the Malaysian legal profession. Originating from the Selangor Bar Association established in 1903, the KL Bar carries forward a proud legacy of dedication to justice, professionalism, and service. With the creation of the Kuala Lumpur Bar in 1992 under the Legal Profession Act 1976, practitioners within the Federal Territory were accorded a distinct and independent platform to advance the interests of the legal community. Today, the KL Bar continues to uphold the highest standards of integrity and excellence, providing guidance, education, and support to its members while promoting the rule of law and access to justice. We remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering a dynamic and ethical legal profession that contributes meaningfully to society and the administration of justice in Kuala Lumpur.

The Malaysian Bar offers a confidential counselling-services programme for members and pupil-in-chambers, providing up to five sessions with licensed counsellors. It addresses stress, loss, anxiety and other personal or professional challenges. Confidentiality is assured and the Member’s identity remains known only to the counsellor and the Board of Counsellors Malaysia.
